Mike Bond was recommended by the elders on Sunday, September 26th as an Elder Candidate. On October 24th during our Members Meeting, church members will vote. The following is his testimony explaining how and why he feels called to eldership.
Teresa and I first came to Church on Mill in March of 2017. At the time we were just looking for a healthy, gospel-centered church to join. We knew right away this is where we wanted to serve the Lord. We were – and are – so thankful that God led us here.
We joined in May of 2017. At that point, we were content to simply worship and serve the body in whatever ways we could as members.
In the summer of 2017, I was asked to consider coming on staff, part-time, to serve as Church on Mill’s Director of Family Ministry. After prayerful consideration I began serving in Family Ministry in September of 2017. The experience has been nothing less than wonderful. I consider myself quite blessed to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity and I have been humbled, encouraged, and at times overwhelmed by Church on Mill’s gracious support for this ministry. In August of 2020, the Elders asked me if I would pray about going through the Discovering Eldership class, with the intention of determining whether or not I might be called to serve as an Elder here. During the process of completing that course, I became increasingly convinced that God is calling me to serve Church on Mill in this way.
Over the past four years, God has increasingly opened up opportunities for me to minister to various people in our church, both in my role with Family Ministry and in addition to it. And as I look back on the experiences of my whole life, I can see many ways that God has been equipping and preparing me for this time.
Teresa and I love Church on Mill and we are thankful for all the ways you have loved us so well.
I stand ready to serve, by God’s grace, as an Elder for Church on Mill as humbly and faithfully as I can, if my church family feels that I can be useful in this way and affirms the calling that I believe God is placing on my life.
