Brothers and Sisters,
Last Sunday
Following a challenging talk about forgiveness, Pastor Chuck’s latest sermon explored what it means embrace trials and flee temptations. The differentiation between the two is a critical thing for us as Christ’s disciples to apply. Do follow up with a brothers or sisters in Christ this week about anything God spoke to you about.
On a much lighter note, we are happy to announce that Lynn and Kathy Hardy have just become members. If you ever run into them during the next several weeks, it would be wonderful for you to take time to get to know them.
Plus, Michel Therrien had the incredible chance of sharing her testimony during service about the impact that the Disciplemakers classes are having on her discipling. This is such a tremendous sign of the Lord’s work in each individual, and how the influence of one person can spread so far!
New Website
Have you taken a few minutes to check out Church on Mill’s new website? We hope it will serve you well and extend Church on Mill’s ministry even further in Tempe and around the world. Check it out and share with others!
Annual Church on Mill Thanksgiving Feast
On Sunday, November 22, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, we will have our Thanksgiving Feast. The theme this year is “Rejoice. Pray. Give Thanks.” Signups will be available on the patio each Sunday so that you can write down the dish you wish to contribute for the dinner. Consider who you could bring with you that might not normally be engaged in the life of the church. Also, in the spirit of thanksgiving, keep in mind of our special “thanksgiving offering” that offers a chance for you to give thanks to God by contributing to the financial needs of the church body.
Discovering Eldership and Discovering Diaconate
Thank you for all your recommendations for prospective elders and deacons! The discovery classes are underway. There is a great group of both prospective deacons and prospective elders studying, praying, and exploring what these roles would mean in their lives and in the life of the church. We’ll share more details at the next Members Meeting (December 6th).
In the Home Stretch
Director of Family Ministries, Tim Stokes, will begin serving at Church on Mill November 30th. Continue praying for all the Stokes (Tim, Linoshca, and their little boy Caden) as they make the final preparations to move across the country. The wonderful members who have been serving as Volunteer Ministry Coordinators in Preschool, Children, Youth, and Worship Care are continuing to do a great job of servant leadership. And speaking of family ministries, youth: mark your calendars for the one and only Winter Youth Retreat, January 16th-18th! To receive further information, please contact either Allison Buelt or David Oaks.
We have now made it to the end of the Lord’s Prayer in our sermon series, but still have a bit more to explore about prayer before moving on to the next series. This coming Sunday we are honored to welcome the president of Phoenix Seminary, Darryl Delhousaye, who will preach Luke 11:1-13. Please read the passage and prepare for next Sunday; we have already come so far with our studies in the Lord’s Prayer, and yet there is still so much more for God to teach each of us about talking with him in prayer!
With much love,
Trevor Pacelli, Ministry Intern
