Dear Church Family,
1 Samuel 18:1-19:1
After David’s victory over Goliath the whole country rejoiced and David’s renown grew throughout Israel. This led to some polarizing reactions among the people. Saul’s son Jonathan pledged loyalty to David, women sang his praises in the street, and Michal, Saul’s daughter, fell in love with him. But as David’s popularity grew, not everyone was happy. Saul began to grow envious of David and allowed the seeds of jealousy to sprout in his heart. When fully grown his jealousy would drive him to terrible acts against David. This chapter parallels our culture today in that no one has a neutral reaction to Jesus, just like how no one has a neutral reaction to David. The question we all must answer is “Have we pledged our loyalty to Christ, or are we his enemy?” You can check out the sermon here.
Summer Study
Tonight, Wednesday June 12th at 6:30 in the West Wing, we are starting our summer study. We will be looking at 1 John this summer as our elders help us to better understand how to read and understand our bibles. I hope to see you there.
Membership Statement of Faith Q&A
The Elders proposed a Membership Statement of Faith at our May members meeting for the church to consider adopting into our Constitution this August. This summer, we are discussing and praying about the statement as a church body. Part of this process is two Q&A Discussion Forums for members to interact with our pastors about the statement. Please attend if you have questions, would like further discussion, or just want to familiarize yourself with the proposed statement. We will meet on Thursday, June 13th at 6:30 in the west wing. If you cannot attend we will have a second Q&A on July 28th from 3-5pm.
Your Brother in Christ,
Brandon
