We Commit
What do you picture when you hear the words “Members Meeting”? Some picture debates about a paint color or forming a new committee lasting months and tearing friendships apart. Others think of tiresome meetings that they never really needed to be at because they didn’t really care about the topics, or their thoughts on the topics were not heard. Many may not think of them negatively, but maintain that it just isn’t necessary to take the time to attend out of a busy life.
As a church body at Church on Mill, Members Meetings are a family affair! Our family comes together six times per year to share ways that Christ is working in our church. At a typical Members Meeting, you’ll hear a few testimonies of how Christ has worked in individual lives or situations. You’ll hear about important family topics that require prayer, discussion, or voting. You’ll spend time in prayer together. It is likely that once in a while, if you are active and involved in the church, you’ll share, ask a question, be asked a question, or pray for one of the items. They are always thoughtful and intentional, and often have both joyous moments and weighty moments.
Members are expected to attend these meetings, sacrificially giving of their time to the church body. We hope that they look forward to them, put them as special events on their calendars, and recognize their attendance is part of meaningful membership. Guests are welcome to come, as we’d love for all to get a glimpse of this aspect of Church on Mill family life. We pray that God’s kingdom is shown ever-more clearly as we put him on display through the way we spend time meeting and caring for one another at Church on Mill.
