Dear Church Family,
Last Sunday
Of all the analogies used to describe some aspect of the Trinity, pro-wrestling is one you’ve probably not heard. In John 16:1-15 Jesus prepares his disciples for the persecution that is sure to come because, as Dennis Newkirk reminded us, “Salvation fundamentally changes you and the world does not accept these changes.” But we are not left alone in this world. Jesus did not leave an empty void when he returned to the Father, but promised to send “another.” To put it crassly, like a pro-wrestling tag team Jesus “tagged out” and the Holy Spirit “tagged in.” For the Christian, all the resources of Christ are available to us through the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Take time to consider: is your life marked by dependence on God and the empowerment of the Spirit? Or do you still find yourself working “from the flesh” in your own strength?
Is God Anti-gay?
A last reminder! The “Is God Anti-gay” conference featuring Sam Allberry will be held this Friday (March 16th) from 7 – 8:30pm at Trinity Bible Church. This is a critical issue for Christians to think through carefully, so come be better equipped! To register and learn more about this free event, see here.
Good Friday and Easter
Join us for a solemn Good Friday service on March 30th. There will be a soup dinner on the grass field at 6:00 pm followed by a time of worship at 6:45 pm. Then on Sunday morning (April 1st) join us as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord with worship services beginning at 9:30 am and 11:15 am.
Your brother in Christ,
Phil Hoshiwara
