Dear Church Family,

Last Sunday

The Bible never says the wise men were kings, that there were three of them, or that they were present at the manger—but one thing the classic nativity set gets right is this: they came bearing gifts in worship of King Jesus. This was their right response to the incarnate God and true King over all peoples, as we learned last week in Pastor Chuck’s message. But it was not the only response to Jesus. King Herod was “troubled.” Jesus’s arrival was not “good news of great joy,” but rather an ominous message that threatened his kingship. We cannot imagine ourselves following Herod’s scheme of murder, but isn’t it true that we very often are threatened by Jesus’s kingship? Don’t we sometimes seek to remove his rule from certain areas of our lives? What idols of your heart does Christ threaten? Know that your greatest joy will always be found in giving all of your worship to the true King.

Christmas Eve Gathering

Join us December 24th at 6pm for a candlelight Christmas Eve gathering. During this time we’ll sing about the coming of our Savior and hear a sermonette. This is a great way to remember the true meaning of Christmas, and to celebrate Christ’s coming with your church family. Don’t miss out!

Year-End Giving

The church office will be open on December 31st from 9 – 11 am for anyone wanting to stop by and give a year-end gift. Thank you for your partnership in gospel ministry!

Your brother in Christ,

Phil Hoshiwara
