Revelation 7:8-10 (ESV) “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’”
Can you imagine that day? What a picture to behold. As a church, one way we get to glimpse that day right now is through supporting and being a part of short-term mission trips. As we partner with long-term missionaries throughout the world, we look outward and see the great truth that the gospel call is for those of every people group. Thank you for being a part of this work in three of our five adopted ministries this summer, Church on Mill! Here’s a brief look at each. If being a part of this gospel work as a Church on Mill member brings you joy, just wait for the exultation there will be on that final day!
East Asia | May 9th-23rd
Patrick and Becky Patterson serve in East Asia connecting college students to local churches. Our team consisting of seven students and two staff members from Church on Mill arrived in East Asia ready to encourage and assist in this ministry. By going on campus with local college students to find believing East Asian students and to share the gospel, our team gave the Pattersons the opportunity to collect a large number of contacts in just a few days. Church on Mill college students benefitted greatly from observing and joining hands in mission with the East Asian college students. Though the East Asians college students face the risk of being arrested each time they share their faith, they do so with joy and boldness. The American college students felt spurred on in sharing their own faith both abroad and at home. This team is now home so be looking a team member to tell you more about their great experience assisting the Pattersons.
Italy | June 12th-24th
Robert and Sandy Krause serve in northern Italy at Serenissima (“most peaceful”) Bible Church, where Rob pastors the congregation. The Krauses work to equip Italians to minister to their own communities and plant churches. In just under a week, our short-term mission team will arrive to join Serenissima Bible Church in sharing the gospel of peace with the people of the city of Conegliano. They will primarily do this through sharing with the little children that Jesus so loved to bless! Doubtless, this park-based Bible club that our team aids in staffing will connect Serenissima ministries to many families in need.
Scotland | July 3rd-13th
20schemes is a ministry bringing the gospel to the most deprived areas of Scotland through planting local churches. To reach adults in Scotland, the Niddrie Community Church staff must often first reach the children. One way they can do this especially well is through a Vacation Bible School (“Holiday Club,” there) that requires extra hands to put on. Those extra hands will arrive in the form of four Church on Mill members ready to help with the kids and all of the odds and ends Holiday Club brings. After Holiday Club, our short-term team will serve teens and families of a scheme, all the while finding opportunities to build up the church workers.
