Brothers and sisters,

I look forward to being with you all next week!

Sermon Recap

Last week we began a series on the “five solas” of the protestant reformation—five recaptured truths that gave birth to a much needed revival in the church during the 1500’s. Last Sunday we considered the first of these solas, Sola Scriptura—Scripture alone. Looking at 2 Timothy 3:10 – 4:5, we saw that Scripture is inspired, clear, authoritative, and powerful. It is inspired because it is breathed out by God; it is clear because it is God’s message to us, and he intends for us to understand that message; it is authoritative because it is God’s very word, and we must submit to it; it is powerful because it works in us and transforms us, making us more like Christ.

Do you believe these things about the nature of Scripture? If so, do you depend on Scripture like food? God’s word gives spiritual life. May we all grow in our love of Scripture, because through God’s word we come to know God himself.

3 Weeks

We are 3 weeks out from our 2 Gatherings launch (August 6)! These services will begin at 9:30 and 11:15 am, with connection classes offered during both services. The 30 minutes in between services (10:45-11:15 am) are intentionally kept free so that you will have time to interact with the whole body of Christ, and hopefully there will be plenty of opportunities to meet someone new! If you still have questions about the transition to 2 Gatherings, there will be a brief Q&A session on July 23rd right after the service in the East Wing. If you are still looking for a way to serve and build up the church, check out the various opportunities and send us an email.

Fall Kick-off Night

Also 3 weeks away is our Fall Kick-off Night! Join us August 9th from 6:30 – 8 pm to learn more about Disciplemakers classes, ask questions, and take a look at the materials we will be studying this semester. For more information about Disciplemakers this fall, click here.

Property Clean-up Day

On July 29th (Saturday) from 8 – 12 pm, you are invited to come “beautify” our campus to make it more welcoming to the community around us! We will meet at the church office and go to work both inside and outside the property. Everyone is welcome, and coffee, donuts, and fruit will be provided! If you have any questions, contact Katie here.

Your brother in Christ,

Phil Hoshiwara
