Fill in the blank, “If I had _________ my life would be so much better.” There are quite a few things you might consider putting there: money, friends, sex, and time are likely the ‘big four.’ The Bible’s answer is different, which is no shocker; however, it may surprise you that the Bible’s response is “If I had wisdom my life would be so much better.” While money, friends, sex, and time are all important, wisdom supersedes them all. Wisdom is skill for the complexity of everyday life. We all need that!

In just five short weeks Church on Mill will launch the first of three sermon series on the book of Proverbs. Proverbs is an entire book of the Bible devoted to explaining and urging us to become people of wisdom. What if 2016 became a year of wisdom for you and our church?

The first series, Understanding Wisdom, launches January 10, 2016. That’s just over a month away. If you are not already in a daily habit of reading the Bible, consider starting now reading one Proverb per day. You’ll read the entire book before our series begins. In the meantime, dwell on this truth: Proverbs 8:10-11 ESV Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, 11for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

Seeking God’s wisdom with you,

Pastor Chuck
