Brothers and sisters,

Each week your voices inspire and teach me as you declare God’s praise and mighty deeds! I always look forward to it!

Sermon Recap

Last week we had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Greg Tonkinson while Pastor Chuck is away on sabbatical. Dr. Tonkinson opened his 4-week series “Soaring” by reminding us of our identity in Christ. In Christ we have died to sin and are raised to walk in newness of life. In Christ we are children of God and have been set free from slavery to sin. Every good work must flow out of this identity in Christ. This week take the time to think about one area of your life that seems to lack spiritual fruit. Then meditate on the spiritual blessings that you have received in your new identity in Christ, such as those found in Ephesians 1. How might these spiritual truths transform that area of your life so that it might be “sanctified” or set apart to God?

7 Weeks

This Sunday brings us to 7 weeks until our 2 Gatherings launch (August 6)! Services will begin at 9:30 and 11:15 am. While we may be moving to two gatherings, it is critically important to remember that we are still one body. The time in between services (10:45-11:15) will be a wonderful opportunity to have meaningful conversations with our brothers and sisters. It seems likely that with the move to two gatherings we will have more opportunity to spend time encouraging one another in the Lord than we did previously!

Another way to promote the unity of the body is by serving. Helping with child-care, for example, is a great way to serve your brothers and sisters in another service. Send us an email if you are interested, and a deacon or staff member will follow up with you.

Seminar on “Authority”

Join us Wednesday (14th) from 6:30 – 8 pm in the auditorium to learn from one of the world’s leading authorities on, well, authority! Jonathan Leeman will be answering the question, “Authority—necessary evil or good gift?” Childcare will be provided.

Maddie Interview

This coming Sunday (18th) Erik Naylor will be interviewing Maddie Pinto right after the service about her new role as the Director of College Ministry at Church on Mill. We are excited to have Maddie on staff—she will be an enormous blessing to the college ministry!

Your brother in Christ,

Phil Hoshiwara
