Brothers and Sisters,

Last Sunday

Last Sunday we studied John 5:1-18. In John 5:1-18, Jesus went up to a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years and asked him the question, “Do you want to be healed?” Of any question Jesus could ask, this one seems to be the most unnecessary. However, in the reactions the Pharisees give, it is clear that not every person answers “Yes!” to this question. The Pharisees ignore the miracle. They do not ask Jesus for healing, or even marvel at the new life that he has given the man. They continue to live perfectly content with being dead spiritually, and in this very same passage they seek to kill the only one who could have given them life. Physical healing is only a small sign of how each person needs spiritual healing. Jesus, compassionate and divine, gives this healing and makes us whole. Do we want to be healed?

Workshop on Biblical Exposition

The story of the Bible is the gospel. There is nothing more important than this, God’s amazing plan to restore all things to himself! Communicating this message with humble authority—preaching—is then a tremendous responsibility. In partnership with The Gospel Coalition Arizona, Church on Mill is hosting the Charles Simeon Trust Workshop on Biblical Exposition next week, October 25-27th. This workshop is designed to equip pastors in this task of bringing God’s Word to God’s people. Brother and sisters, let’s join in praying for the men who will meet on our church campus. Pray that their time here would bear fruit in each of their church bodies. Thanks for being a church committed to helping churches.

Members Meeting

As a church body, Members Meetings are one of the most important things we do. Our family comes together to share ways Christ is working through testimonies, to talk about important matters that require prayer, discussion, or voting, and to spend time in prayer together. We hope that members look forward to these times, put them as anticipated events on their calendars, and feel as if their attendance is an essential part of meaningful membership. Our next Members Meeting is October 29th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. If you’ve committed to this church, make a special effort to join us. If you aren’t a member, we’d still love to have you attend to see our church body in action.

In Christ,

Gracie
