Dear Church Family,

Last Sunday

Our passage last week dealt with God’s rejection of king Saul for his disobedience. Saul showed that he did not have a heart to follow the commandments of God, and could not lead the Israelites into righteousness. Plainly put, Israel needed someone better (1 Sam. 15:28). Ultimately, we need king Jesus. He alone is righteous, and is able to lead us into obedience through his sacrificial death and indwelling Spirit. Take time to consider this week, who are you following? Jesus alone can bring you into the victory of obedience.

Lord’s Supper

In the Lord’s Supper, we look backwards to what Christ did for us on the cross, and we look forwards to his return when we will feast with our victorious King. Prepare your hearts in anticipation of taking the Lord’s Supper this Sunday with your church family.

10 Years of Faithful Ministry

Pastor Chuck will not like the attention, but it’s important to note that July 1st will mark 10 years of sacrificial and faithful ministry at Church on Mill. Last Sunday evening we surprised Chuck with a special time of reflection on the past decade as church members shared how they have been blessed by the Newkirk family. Be sure to let the Newkirks know how their faithful service to God has impacted your life!

Members Meeting Recap

Besides reflecting on 10 years with the Newkirks, we also…

  1. welcomed four new members into our body.
  2. commissioned Phil and Julie Hoshiwara to serve in Thailand.
  3. considered a proposal to formally adopt our church’s Member Statement of Faith, to be voted on by church members this August. (This second version includes Scripture references for study.)

Together

Thank you for the many ways that you have served one another in love and helped the body to grow up into Christ. Specifically, Sunday morning services would not be possible without the sacrifices that you make. To see a list of opportunities to serve this year, click here. To sign up or inquire for more info, email serve@churchonmill.org with your area of interest, and someone will get in touch with you shortly.

Your brother in Christ,

Phil Hoshiwara
