Brothers and sisters,

It is a joy to be a member of this body. I am encouraged as I see us speaking the truth in love to one another and growing up together into our head, Jesus Christ!

Sermon Recap

Last Sunday we had the privilege of hearing Dr. Don Orvis share from God’s word. In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus calls the first disciples to leave behind their catch of fish in order to start “catching men.” In one sense, it will mean business as usual—the hard work of fishing. But in another sense, Jesus’ calling has changed everything. Now they fish to see people enter the kingdom of God.

Don challenged us to go make disciples at the word of Jesus—trusting in the one who has all authority; to put out into the deep—not only calling unbelievers into the church, but also going to unbelievers where they are; and to let down our nets—taking the initiative to turn conversations towards the gospel. Who are the lost people you have been praying for? Has God given you opportunities to share the gospel that is able to make them “wise unto salvation”? (2 Tim. 3:15). We are not responsible for the results, but we are responsible to proclaim Christ!

Members Meeting

Join us this Sunday (April 30th) from 6 – 8:30 pm in the church auditorium for our quarterly Members Meeting. We will hear several important updates from members and leaders in the body, and will also hear from our international missions partners who are visiting from East Asia. Come participate in prayer, ask questions, and give your vital feedback!

New Connection Classes

Last Sunday (April 23rd) we started a new round of connection classes (9:30 – 10:30 am). If you weren’t able to make the first class, it’s not too late to join!

“Financial Stewardship” is being taught by Tad Skinner (location changed to the Northwest Wing). Come and learn how we might honor God in the way we manage our finances.

“Loving the Way Jesus Loves” is being taught by Pat Nickel (East Wing). Come take an in-depth look at how Jesus exemplified love, and how we might live in love towards our neighbor.

“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” (Ps. 96:3).

Your brother in Christ,

Phil Hoshiwara
